The best guilt-free brownies


No really, these are the best guilt-free brownies I’ve ever had and I totally have a chip on my shoulder for being responsible.

I’ve recently become obsessed with nutrition and now that I’ve jumped into this rabbit hole, I’m here to share some of my favorites with you. My sweet tooth has (unfortunately) gone nowhere, and I was seriously craving brownies but not the consequences that come with it.

These brownies are fudgey, the perfect amount of dense, and more than enough sweet. It’s perfect for vsg patients too because the ingredients are clean and there’s no white flour or added sugar. Even my super picky husband loved them so it’s a guaranteed pleaser.

BEST HEALTH BROWNIES - RECIPE

Ingredients

1/3 cup honey (I used Tupelo, the queen bee of honey - but you can use whatever honey you have lying around)

1/3 cup organic agave nectar

1/2 cup melted butter or margarine (salted; I used smart balance margarine) 1 Tbsp. vanilla extract 3 eggs 1 cup almond flour

1/2 cup melted dark chocolate (has to be 70% or more, I used a whole package of Lindt 72% raw cacao) 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

1 cup sliced almonds 4 tsp organic almond butter

Instructions

Heat oven to 350 degrees F. Mix the wet ingredients first - honey, agave, butter/margarine, vanilla extract and eggs - beat until smooth. Melt the dark chocolate either on the stove top or in the microwave (I did it in the microwave in increments of 30 seconds until it was melted). Add the dry ingredients to the wet - almond flour, melted chocolate, powdered cocoa. Then add the sliced almonds to the batter. Stir to blend, it should have batter like consistency and not be too thick. Pour into greased 8x8 inch 2 qt pan. Add a teaspoon of almond butter to the 4 corners of the pan and use a toothpick to swirl the almond butter over the top of the batter. Bake for approximately 25 minutes, until center no longer jiggles and top looks like cake. Once removed let it cool till the sides come off the pan and serve. Enjoy!
